The Challenges:

A regional housing association managing over 500 properties across central Scotland identified a recurring issue across its residential portfolio: poor thermal insulation in loft areas. Many homes were experiencing rapid heat loss during the colder months, leading to higher-than-average energy bills for tenants and widespread complaints about cold, uncomfortable living conditions. The housing association also faced pressure to meet its environmental targets and improve the energy efficiency ratings of its properties.

Solution:

Omega Energy Services conducted a full audit of the affected properties and implemented a large-scale insulation upgrade program targeting the most vulnerable homes first. We installed high-performance, eco-friendly loft insulation in over 100 properties, using breathable, non-toxic materials that comply with current building regulations and environmental standards. The installation process was carefully managed to ensure minimal disruption to tenants. Our team also provided post-installation guidance to residents on how to maximise their energy savings.

Result:

Following the insulation work, residents reported a 30% improvement in heat retention, with many able to reduce their reliance on heating systems during the winter. On average, households saw a reduction of £300 per year in energy bills. In addition to the economic benefits, the insulation upgrade helped the housing association meet its carbon reduction goals and improve the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings of its properties. The project also boosted tenant satisfaction and helped reduce fuel poverty in vulnerable communities.
