Why opt for an Air Source Heat Pump?

Air source heat pumps have been widely used across Europe for many years and are now quickly becoming a popular alternative for heating and hot water in the UK.

Operating at an efficiency rate of approximately 300% (compared to about 96% with a traditional gas boiler), these systems provide heat and hot water for your home while significantly reducing the environmental impact associated with fossil fuel-based systems.

How does an Air Source Heat Pump Work?

Heat Capture
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) work a bit like a refrigerator, but in reverse. Instead of cooling down the inside and expelling heat out, they absorb heat from the outside air, even when it’s quite cold out.
This heat is then absorbed by a special fluid inside the pump, which is slightly colder than the outdoor air, causing the fluid to evaporate. This process happens in a part of the heat pump called the evaporator.
The evaporated fluid then travels into a compressor, which pressurises it, causing it to get even hotter. It’s similar to how the air in a bicycle pump gets hot when you pump it quickly.
This hotter fluid then passes through a heat exchanger, where it heats up your home’s central heating system. As it cools down, it turns back into a liquid and is then ready to absorb more heat from the outside air, and the cycle begins again.
One great thing about air source heat pumps is that they can produce more energy as heat than they consume in electricity, making them a very efficient way to heat your home. On really cold days, they may need a bit of a boost from your existing heating system, but overall, they can significantly reduce your heating costs and carbon emissions.

Installation Timeline

Day 1
Day 1-13
Day 14
Day 28
Site Assessment
First, we’ll conduct a comprehensive review of your property. This involves your visiting your property and carrying out a full heat loss calculation for every area of the property. By doing this we can ensure that there is absolutely no possibility of undersizing the equipment required and risking any potential of leaving you feeling the chill in the deepest parts of winter
Specifying Your Solution
After the site assessment, we’ll specify the ideal Air Source Heat Pump solution for your property. Our highly qualified and extremely friendly, professional surveyors will talk to you about the installation process, usage and after care of your proposed heating system.
Funding Options
In many circumstances funding is available for air source heat pump installations and our surveyor will talk to you about the options for you individually when they are with you.
Installation Process
Once approved, we’ll proceed with the installation at a date that works best for you. This process usually takes 1-2 days. Once completed, you’ll be able to start harnessing energy from the air, effectively transforming it into green, renewable energy for your home.
